Chevrolet has developed an exciting system that is like an extra pair of eyes while backing. The Surround Vision technology, available on the 2018 Chevy Equinox, 2018 Chevy Bolt EV, and 2018 Chevy Traverse, offers a 360-degree bird's eye view so you can see all around the vehicle. It uses four cameras, including the standard Rear Vision Camera, to provide video around the vehicle. That data is then displayed on the instrument panel along with an image from either the front or rear-facing camera.
Of course, no vehicle safety system is a substitute for careful driving and close monitoring. However, the Surround Vision System is a tool that can help reduce the potential of a backover incident. It is also very helpful in other situations such as parking.
