Putting Together Your Vehicle's Emergency Safety Kit

Emergency Safety Kit for Your Vehicle

No matter the time of year, it is very important to have an emergency safety pack readily available in your vehicle.  This is so easy to put together on your own and you will appreciate it if there is an emergency situation while you are on the road.  These are some items to consider for your emergency kit:

First Aid Kit-  include a variety of bandages and alcohol swabs or antiseptic cream

Charged Cell Phone- Buy an inexpensive pay-as-you-go phone for the kit.  Make sure to keep it charged though or it won't be helpful during an emergency!

Jumper Cables, Roadside Flares / Reflective Triangles,  Extra Fuses- Think about things you might need if you were to break down by the roadside.

Small Tool Kit-  Make sure it includes tools like wrenches, pliers, hammer, and a funnel.  Some duct tape can also be very helpful!

Food and Water-  A few non-perishable foods (dried fruit, granola bars, etc) and some bottled water are good to have.

Keep a flashlight and seatbelt cutter/ glass breaker tool easily within reach of the driver's seat.

During the winter, you will want to add other items as well.  Add an ice scraper, warm blankets, and some ice melting product or sand.

Hopefully, you will never need to use your Emergency Safety Kit.  However, if you need it, you will be happy to have it!  Be prepared and be safe!
